What Is Baccarat?
Baccarat is one of those casino games that looks intimidating from the outside but is actually one of the most straightforward games you can play. No complicated strategies to memorise, no poker faces to maintain — you just pick a side, watch the cards fall, and see if luck is on your side tonight.
The basic idea: two hands are dealt — one for the Player and one for the Banker. Your job is to bet on which hand will have a total closer to nine, or whether the round will end in a Tie. Cards two through nine carry their face value; tens and face cards are worth zero; aces are worth one. If the total goes above nine, only the second digit counts — so a hand of 7 and 8 (total 15) is actually worth 5.
Simple, fast, and sulit ang laro. That's exactly why Baccarat is one of the most-played table games at 879jl — it fits perfectly into a quick gaming session between meetings or while waiting for your next tricycle ride.
The Three Main Bets — Explained Simply
Baccarat at 879jl gives you three core betting options every round. Here's what each one means and what you can expect from it.
| Bet Type | What You're Betting On | Payout | House Edge | Verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Banker | The Banker hand finishes closer to 9 | 1:1 (minus 5% commission) | ~1.06% | Best long-term bet — most consistent |
| Player | The Player hand finishes closer to 9 | 1:1 | ~1.24% | No commission — clean and easy |
| Tie | Both hands finish with the same total | 8:1 | ~14.4% | High payout but rare — treat as occasional fun bet |
Some 879jl tables also offer side bets like Player/Banker Pair, Perfect Pair, and Super 6. These carry higher payouts but also higher house edges — good for spicing things up, but don't make them your main strategy.
Why Filipinos Love Baccarat at 879jl
Baccarat has been popular in Filipino gaming circles for a long time — from the casino floors in Parañaque to the online lobbies that players discovered during the stay-at-home years. The game's appeal is easy to understand: it's fast, it requires almost no learning curve, and the odds are among the best you'll find at any table game.
At 879jl, we've leaned into what Filipino players actually want from a Baccarat session. Our live dealer tables feature real cards dealt by real people in real time, streamed directly to your screen. The atmosphere feels genuine — not like you're playing against a random number generator, but like you're sitting at an actual table.
We also have auto-squeeze tables for players who enjoy the dramatic slow reveal, and speed Baccarat tables for those who want rounds to move fast — useful when you only have 15 minutes during your lunch break in Cebu or BGC.
Chat is available in the live rooms, and our Filipino-speaking dealers make the experience feel welcoming even for those playing Baccarat for the first time at 879jl.

Tips for Playing Smarter at 879jl Baccarat
Baccarat is largely a game of chance — the drawing rules are fixed and automatic, so there's no skill involved in deciding when a third card is drawn. What you can control is your betting discipline, your bankroll management, and how you read streaks at the table.
-
Bet Banker More Often Than Not
The Banker bet has the lowest house edge in Baccarat. Even after the 5% commission, it's statistically the best bet available — seasoned players at 879jl rarely deviate far from it.
-
Track the Bead Road & Big Road
879jl displays a full scoreboard showing recent results. While past results don't guarantee future outcomes, many players use streak patterns — like Dragon Tails — to decide when to switch sides.
-
Set a Session Limit Before You Sit Down
Decide how much you're comfortable losing in a session before you start. When you hit that number, stop — even if you feel like a turnaround is just around the corner. That discipline protects your bankroll long-term.
-
Don't Chase the Tie Bet
The 8:1 payout on Tie looks attractive, but at roughly 14% house edge it drains your bankroll faster than any other bet at the table. Place it occasionally for fun, but never make it your main strategy.
